After 40 years of Conservative rule in Alberta — the Progressive Conservative Association of Alberta came to power under the leadership of Peter Lougheed in 1971 — a new party is looking to challenge the status quo.
The Alberta Party, known for its 'Big Listen', is in the process of deciding who will take them into the 2012 provincial election.
OpenFile was at the Calgary leadership debate, to do a livestream, the video of which is below. The event was held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Croatian Canadian Cultural Centre.
The debate is the first in a series of provincial party debates hosted by the Calgary Leadership Forum.
